First released in 2023, Imposteur was born out of necessity — and quickly became a favourite in its own right. When a tight Verdelho crop meant we couldn’t produce Espudelho, we turned our winemaker’s Semillon as a stand-in. What began as a solution has since sparked plenty of questions about when this much-loved wine might return.

The 2025 Imposteur pours a sparkling, pale lime-straw colour, bright and inviting. Aromatically, it opens with fresh lime and citrus blossom, layered with gentle talc and a subtle herbal edge that adds finesse rather than weight.
On the palate, zesty citrus leads the way, supported by a rounded, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Semillon brings generosity and texture, balancing freshness with a soft, lingering finish. It’s clean, approachable and quietly complex — a wine that rewards both casual sipping and closer attention.
Not an Espudelho, but no longer just a substitute, Imposteur has earned its place in the lineup. A welcome return for those who’ve been waiting — and a discovery for those meeting it for the first time.
