Nick Paterson is a highly acclaimed winemaker from the Hunter Valley, known for his skill and passion for producing exceptional wines. He has won numerous awards, including the Riedel 2012 “Hunter Valley’s Rising Star” and the 2011 Citibank NSW Wine of the Year.
Nick’s family owns Chateau Pato, a micro-boutique winery in the Hunter Valley, and he has taken his winemaking skills to new heights with his company, Dogliani. He is considered one of the “New Generation” of Hunter Valley winemakers, and believes in using a soft pressing technique to bring out the unique characteristics of the fruit.
Throughout his 19-year career as a winemaker, Nick has had the privilege of learning from some of the legends in the industry, including Murray Tyrrell, Len Evans, Iain Riggs and Andrew Spinaze. He has worked for prestigious wineries such as Brokenwood and Tyrrells, and has completed vintages in the Yarra Valley, Tuscany and Campania.
Nick’s wines have received numerous accolades, including 3 Championships, 25 National Trophies, 2 International Trophies and 45 Gold Medals. He is also proud to make wines for three Hunter Valley brands that have received the acclaimed five stars in James Halliday’s 2014 wine book.

According to James Halliday, Nick is one of the “best contract wine-makers in the Hunter”, and he is highly regarded for his expertise and commitment to producing outstanding wines. The wine community eagerly anticipates many more exceptional vintages from Nick in the years to come.
